Dr. Who Dat? - Beyond 2Morrow
MySpace: Dr. Who Dat?

Following up his tremendous Beat Journey album, Shape Of Broad Minds' Jneiro Jarel returns to his Dr. Who Dat? guise with a brand new set of compositions for Lex. Since his last solo outing we've been spoiled by sublime, low-end heavy productions from the likes of Flying Lotus, raising the instrumental hip hop bar ever upwards, but Jarel is up to the challenge, dropping a severe bass payload of his own on the likes of 'DR. 400,000,000', 'Ghetto Dreaming' and the hyper-compressed acid-hop of 'Space Balls'. The crushing beat designs provide the album with its water cooler moments: take for example the echoic whip-crack snares of 'Viberian Twilight Part 2', or the tactile creaks and groans of the title track; there's little here that bows to convention. One especially outstanding moment comes via the monstrous grind spilled out from 'Jaws Of Clover' - an amazing piece of auditory sabotage, far away from the hip hop same-old-same-old, though still preserving those fundamental, essential ingredients.
