Dres (of Black Sheep) - Road Warrior (Music Video Teaser)

The "Road Warrior" video revolves around the subject matter of the track itself: the depth of Dres' experience as a touring artist and how hard he's had to work to get where he is. From the studio to the stage, "Road Warrior" is proof that Dres has paid his dues. The track features a typically hot beat, once again proving Dres' outstanding ear for production, which allows Dres to showcase his skills. The beat would be a handful for most emcees, but Dres makes himself at home in its warbling sparseness, matching the beat with his own take on road life. "Lyrically I wanted to be sparse, like a road trip" says Dres. "Showing a little bit of everything in passing, as well as illustrating the premise that my music travels the world and blows up spots wherever it lands. The new music has me curious as to what the future holds, and this track mirrors all of these things."

This clip is a compelling look at the life of road warrior artists in general, and Dres in particular. The EP From the Black Pool of Genius: The Prelude was released December 1st, and will be followed by the full length From the Black Pool of Genius in March 2010.

Dres (of Black Sheep) - Doin' It Wrong

Dres of Black Sheep does it once again with the release of his second single "Doin' It Wrong" from his EP From The Black Pool Of Genius: The Prelude, which is officially available today. The latest track is another demonstration of Dres' exceptional flow and lyrical finesse as he declares "I'm a one man Beatles, I be the Rolling Stone." When asked about the inspiration behind the song Dres explained, "The present state of mainstream hip-hop is the inspiration. It seems to me that the music has lost its concern for the world and people, and overtly speaks almost exclusively of the baubles of life and state of mind." Combining thought-provoking lyrics, a masterfully soul-inspired beat courtesy of the upcoming Urban Soul Music Group, and catchy hook, listeners are given a preview of the growth and maturity to expect from the highly anticipated EP From The Black Pool of Genius: The Prelude, as well as throughout Dres' forthcoming full-length release, described as a "deep, vast pool of soul... not always understood, but forever seen and loved." From The Black Pool of Genius: The Prelude is available now, and the full-length album is scheduled for a March 2010 release.

Black Sheep - Forever Luvlee

Dres is back to represent the legendary group Black Sheep with "Forever Luvlee," the first single from his forthcoming EP, From The Black Pool Of Genius: The Prelude. The song showcases Dres' unmistakable flow, proving, yet again, that although he is one of hip-hop's originators he has yet to loose a step. Different from some of Black Sheep's earlier records, this track has a distinct smoothness that represents growth and maturity in production and recording. The title would have the listener thinking it is a hip-hop love ballad, but the track is far from it. When asked what the message behind the song was Dres had this to say, "Don't put things before people, keep God in your heart always (whatever you call him). Try to find balance in these chaotic days - be Luvlee." The lyrics speak to Dres's "essence of his presence" staying "Forever Luvlee" in a world of ice and bubbly. The lyrics are clever and ironic and let the listener know that regardless of the success he has experienced, it hasn't changed who he is, as he raps, "I like hot sauce on all I eat, my Kool-Aid too sweet... " The EP From the Black Pool of Genius: The Prelude will be released December 1st, followed by a full-length album release scheduled for spring 2010.

Black Sheep - Non-Fiction

MySpace

Black Sheep's second album, Non-Fiction, was seen as not living up to the group’s well-established talents. Due to virtually no promotion and a generally poor reception, the album managed only lackluster sales. Titus and McLean would separate soon afterwards to attend to various independent projects. In 2000, they reunited to record a track for the movie Once in the Life.
