Exile is behind the boards of my favorite hip-hop album of the last 5 years and I’m not that old, so it’s a big deal. His latest solo project, Radio, was made entirely from samples pulled from LA’s crowded airwaves and is an exercise in patience and scrapbooking. In these 2 pieces; shot at SF’s Different Fur Studios, Ex speaks on getting his start finger drumming, coming up with the concept of his new record, how it was almost titled Car Stereo, and what making beats while plugged into the cigarette lighter on long road trips was like. He then follows that with a couple of rub-your-eyes-is-this reality re-creation of "In Love."

Blame One - Small Time Cops x Touches Me Rough (Prod. by Exile)

Blame One tweeted these out last week sometime and I just spaced on posting them up for y'all. "Small Time Cops" features Exile chopping up some ill Mafia-esque strings while Blame recounts how his esoteric spiritualism got him in trouble with the 5-0, while "Touches Me Right" is an ode to Blame's love for music. Exile feat. Aloe Blacc & Co$$ - So We Can Move (Remix + Instrumental)

Exile's Radio Remix project is in its final stages of completion and should be released shortly after the new year. The Remix Album features various producers and MC's including Alchemist, Evidence, Blu, Grouch & Eligh, DJ Day, Clutchy Hopkins, ADaD, Fashawn, Samiyam, and many more. Here goes another leak off the album, this time with Exile enlisting vocals from the other half of his group Emanon, Aloe Blacc, as well as the very dope Cali MC Co$$ aka Cashus King. I have also provided the original instrumental from Exile's Radio which was released way back at the beginning of the year.

Exile - Radio

Radio is not your average instrumental album. Exile did not want to just put beats on a record. He wanted everything to be unique and different, from the starting concept to the final message of Radio. Sampling vocals off the radio, Exile overcame the challenge and succeeded in creating a positive message on an instrumental album.

As Exile says, "Good and evil are present on the radio. With this record I express love in contrast to evil. I did not want to put an album out showing only my talent... I needed to share with the listener what I have learned from my life. In this case, the radio."
