Atmosphere - Leak At Will

Message from Slug: "Hello party people. As we approach the launch of our new digital online store, Anthony and myself have put together another project that we are giving away for free to any of you who sign up for a user account on our online store www.FifthElementOnline.com.

The project is a 7 song EP called LEAK AT WILL, and it was a lot of fun to make. Nothing too serious, just smiles and cries. Consider it another “thank you” for all of the support you have offered us over the years. And again, thank you very much. Have a good summer. See you later player."

Eternia & MoSS - Road to Release Episode #5

Public Service Announcement from Eternia:

"I'm a lil mentally scattered at the moment, so this blog may not be as succinct as the previous ones. That's O.K... that's what the VIDEO is for! SO PEEP IT!

I't's been over a month now!! We've been getting a lot of awesome feedback with the weekly video episodes. For that I am grateful, I definitely get the sense that people are in tune, & know that these exist. Which is all I could ask for really... they are a lot of work, more than they may look. A good, solid 3-5 days of work, weekly (from planning, to shooting, to editing, to blasting, to follow-up)... which is a good chunk of our week. So I'm glad that you guys are following us, and that all the effort is not in vain.

Some bloggers & online media sites have told us that until we give them SONGS, they won't be posting the video content. From my humble point of view, that's kinda counter-intuitive. These vids were conceptualized b/c we knew it would be awhile before we had a label situation, in order to properly promote and leak singles. And yet we didn't want to leave the world with... crickets.

We conceptualized these video episodes in the first place because we knew there would be quite a significant gap of time between: "AT LAST" the Album being DONE & "AT LAST" the Album being on shelves and in your hands. A minimum of 6-8 months, to be realistic. And I didn't want people to think we were sitting on our thumbs, doing nothing, whenever the question of, "What's up with the new album?" arose. I wanted to answer that Q w/ every episode. I wanted to take you on the journey with me:

- Listening Sessions.
- Shopping for Record Deal
- Promoting the Album
- Performing, photo shoots, video shoots...
- Deciding on buzz singles... lead singles... getting the music to you...
and so much more (anybody who's dropped an album can understand & appreciate what I'm talking about)

And the funny part is, I know once the songs leak... everyone's gonna wanna play catch-up on the episodes."

Keep doing ya thing Eternia, I've been a fan of yours since "It's Called Life", and I will continue supporting you regardless if you leak tracks out or not. You're one of the dopest emcees spitting today and always have excellent production. Any true hip-hop fan that doesn't buy the album once it is released might as well just stop listening to music and go hibernate for the duration of their existance.

Tanya Morgan Stays On The Grind Since Brooklynati

Two short months after the release of their sophomore LP, Brooklynati, rap group Tanya Morgan are proud to announce a number of exciting developments, including the addition of their "So Damn Down" video to regular rotation on MTV2, recent work with Comedy Central's The Daily Show, and the upcoming 11 day, five date Welcome To Brooklynati Tour.

Nowadays, if an artist can maintain buzz around a new album past the first week it's an accomplishment worth celebrating. For Tanya Morgan, it's been nearly two months since the trio of Von Pea, Donwill, and Ilyas first made their move to Brooklynati, and the guys have been so busy they haven't even had a chance to unpack. After recently premiering the video for the album's lead single, "So Damn Down," on MTVu.com, the video has been met with such high acclaim that MTV2 has picked up the video, adding it to their Sucker Free Countdown. The news came as a surprise to some within the group as well. Donwill says, "I was wondering why my phone kept ringing. Everybody was like, 'Did I just see you on MTV?' I told them I didn't know; I don't have cable! (laughs). I'm thinking, people must be seeing this, maybe I need to go find a television (laughs)." Fans can currently catch the video on MTV2 as part of the networks' two-week promotion highlighting indie artists and labels, Independent's Week.

MTV isn't the only major television network taking notice. The Daily Show, a Comedy Central network staple for over ten years, recently reached out to Tanya Morgan to produce music for a segment on the show. The segment, which features The Daily Show's Jason Jones traveling to Iran, includes a rap battle between the correspondent and an Iranian rapper. Put together by Von Pea and Donwill, according to Von, who made the beat, the song has an extra special Tanya Morgan touch: "The track was recorded in Don's bedroom, and I mixed it in mine. Not some fancy spot at comedy central headquarters or whatever, they kept it grimey! I love it!"

The group's current successes don't have them resting on their laurels, though. While fans continue to enjoy the new album and celebrate the new exciting developments for Tanya Morgan, they can check the group out live, as they embark on the official Welcome To Brooklynati Tour. Beginning July 8th and running for nearly two weeks, the tour will be making stops in Brooklyn, New York, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Indianapolis, Indiana before wrapping up July 18th in Columbus, Ohio.

Make sure you support good music by purchasing this album if you have yet to do so.

Sandpeople - Hate Aside (Behind-The-Scenes Video)

Sandpeople, a 10-artist collective, recently hit the streets of the city they call home, Portland, Oregon, for the video shoot of their latest track "Hate Aside." This video, a behind the scenes look at the shoot and at Sandpeople themselves, is both a serious and hilarious take on who the hip-hop group really are. From the opening cut of a dubbed Muppets movie to the group's closing remarks, placed at the end of the video almost like a hidden track, the viewer gets a great look at the family-like quality that exists amongst the crew. At the same time, whether they're on the streets or on their couch, the collective's emcees and producers are introducing members and explaining the making of the video. Playing behind all the information and all the jokes is the featured track "Hate Aside." Catch this song and more on Sandpeople's latest release, the Long Story, Short... EP, out now on Sandpeople Music.

The Physics - High Society EP

MySpace

Two years after the release of their critically lauded full length debut, Future Talk, Seattle-based hip hop group The Physics are back with June 2009’s release of High Society, an eight track EP of new material representing a natural progression both musically and personally. Steeped heavily in references to jazz and soul, Just D’Amato’s production (alongside Phee Dill & Dyalect) provides the smoothed-out backdrop against which lyricists Thig Natural and Monk Wordsmith (absent from Future Talk but a notable presence here) do their thing and do it with skill. Featuring guest appearances by beastly Seattle MCs Language Arts (Back Track) and Macklemore (Good) as well as one of the year’s most buzzed about local duos, the fresh-as-all-hell females of Thee Satisfaction (Radio Head), High Society dims the lights on the laidback aesthetic established in Future Talk and invites the listener to get real grown—and enjoy it. While this EP may feel like a main course, don’t get it twisted: it’s merely just a taste of what’s to come, a prelude to an additional as-yet-untitled release slated for later in the summer.

01. Hustle Man Intro
02. High Society
03. Callin
04. Back Track
05. I Just Wanna Beat
