Jern Eye feat. Spank Pops & J. Billion - Cali (Prod. by Jake One) (Music Video)

The left coast comes correct in Jern Eye's new video for Bay Area anthem "Cali." The song features Jern, along with veteran emcee Spank Pops and star on the rise J. Billion, riding the waves of an infectious Jake One beat and trading verses bursting with hometown pride. Now, director Lorezno Escalante, also one of the visionaries behind Jern's "Beautiful" video, brings the neck-snapper to life. "We filmed 'Cali' entirely in San Francisco to give viewers a perspective of the city in California we represent," says Jern. And what a perspective it is. Viewers are treated to a visual tour of the city, as the camera captures performances at iconic locations such as AT&T Ball Park, Treasure Island and Haight Street, while the golden state's picturesque coastline fills out the rest of the video. Shooting was done guerrilla style at times, which inevitably resulted in close encounters of the amusing kind, as Jern explained that filming at Treasure Island caused a stir amongst some of Bay Area's finest. "The local Gestapo were not too happy about it," says Jern with a smile. Be that as it may, there's nothing to be unhappy about with the final product, as Jern & Co. throw down an auditory and visual tribute to their hometown that everyone can be proud of.

Jern Eye - Get Down (Prod. by Keelay & Zaire) (Music Video)

Jern Eye's new video for "Get Down" is anything but a "vision all helter skelter." Jam-packed with special effects and an energetic front man, the video for "Get Down" is something that provides the perfect visuals for the upbeat party-vibe.

"Since the song is very high energy, we decided to make it visually dynamic in the post editing," says Jern Eye. "A lot of cool affects were used on the set as well, like having projection transposed during some of the performance shots."

As the infectious drumbeat takes hold, explosive special effects and colors pop at all the right moments, the result being a visually stunning viewing experience. Director Jon Santos took a very simple shoot, added the many facets of Jern Eye's personality, and created a unique and exciting experience perfect as the backdrop of a funky dance club. Although not apparent on first watch, Jern Eye's album cover for Vision is inserted into the video numerous times as well as a visual reminder of the song's name, "Get Down." The video also highlights the instruments that make the song so powerful with shots of the synthesizer playing its catchy lick and drummer pushing the beat.

Jern Eye - Get Down (Prod. by Keelay & Zaire)

Jern Eye teams up with hip-hop production duo Keelay & Zaire for a second time, releasing "Get Down," the first official single from his upcoming album, Vision. This track is exactly what the title suggests: a funky dance groove that will get your head nodding and feet tapping. A raw, acoustic drumbeat picks up the track's momentum and never lets it drop. The hook is filled out with funky synth punches, various sound effects and a sample of the godfather of soul himself, James Brown, singing the song's title. When asked what message he was trying to deliver with the track, lines like "A little older so my game tight / play to win so I don't play right / hit you in the head I don't play fight / a little room in the jeans I don't wear tights" portray the message Jern Eye is going for. Speaking on that message, Jern Eye says "I was trying to convey that swagger comes with real lyricism, so no matter how fly you think you are you'll only be as fly as the music you make." With lackluster, cookie-cutter production and lyrics being the norm nowadays, Jern Eye is a breath of fresh air that will stay making sure you Get Down. Jern Eye's new album, Vision, will be available October 13th via MYX Music Label.

Jern Eye feat. Roc C & Nightclubber Lang - Blowin' Up

It's a transcontinental joint that caps off Jern Eye's upcoming release, Vision, as the Oakland-based emcee grabs a classic Notorious B.I.G. sample for the hook. World famous DJ Vinroc, who serves as a part of crews Triple Threat and 5th Platoon, steps in on the production side laying a strong foundation for Jern Eye to celebrate the long struggle of a career that has lead up to this, his forthcoming sophomore solo album, Vision. Guest emcees Roc C and Nightclubber Lang of The Boom Bap Project drop verses that recognize their similar experiences, and for Jern Eye the song serves as a great opportunity to work with the two fellow emcees on his album. Jern Eye says, "I actually recorded a handful of music with Roc C prior to making this album. I met him on tour in '06. This song was one of the earliest songs recorded for the album. The chemistry is just real, and the beat is real grimey. I love grimey."

For Nightclubber Lang, "Blowin' Up" also signified the beginnings of a strong working relationship with Jern Eye. Nightclubber Lang says, "Blowin' Up is the first track I ever did with Jern. Him and DJ Icewater (from the Pharcyde) wanted me to get on there and spit a third verse. Jern and Roc C definitely did their thing, so I just wanted to get on there and represent. It was too dope not to include on Vision." Despite the stellar guest verses, no rhyme typifies the celebratory nature of the track better than Jern's, "I went from gettin' scrapped when it came to beats / To gettin' top choice for the sound of my speech."

Check out this and the first fourteen tracks of Vision, out October 13 via MYX Music Label.
