Kam Moye - Forever Fresh (Prod. by Marco Polo) (Music Video)

North Carolina's own, Kam Moye aka Supastition, teams up with Bay Area director, Charles Barcelona for the Marco Polo-produced banger, "Forever Fresh." The video is done documentary-style and showcases Kam in various behind-the-scenes clips, past videos, and show footage from performances in the U.S. and abroad. The rest of the video was shot on location in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The song itself is reminiscent of the former Supastition sound with Kam spitting rapid fire, while still dropping jewels like "I'm what happens when a child prodigy grows up." Marco Polo's head nodding production shines brilliantly throughout the track triumphant horn stabs and classic boom bap drums leave the perfect backdrop for Kam's ferocity. "Forever Fresh" is the b-side to Kam Moye's official second single and latest album title track, "Splitting Image."

Kam Moye - Splitting Image (Sampler)

The date has finally arrived and to celebrate the October 27th release of Splitting Image, Kam Moye has leaked a self-selected album sampler, just in case there are still any undecided folks out there. The sampler is a 7-song sneak preview of Kam's first CD under his given name, rather than his alter ego Supastition. Splitting Image represents more than just a name change for Kam. The album isn’t a departure so much as an evolution towards a more mature, focused persona, and the sampler contains several songs that hint at this transition.

The sampler features production from Jake One, Vitamin D, M-Phazes, Veterano, Khrysis, and S1 with guest appearances by Phonte, One Be Lo, Zumbi (Zion I), and many more.

Kam Moye - RE:Born (Prod. by Vitamin D)

Kam released the first official single off of his upcoming LP "Splitting Image" just last week, now he also gives the fans an opportunity to download the B-side of that single, "RE:Born", for free. For this track, Kam Moye aka Supastition gets a hand from Seattle standout Vitamin D on the production tip, and Kam absolutely kills it as he does a good 95% of the time. Make sure you pick up a copy of the new album "Splitting Image," which hits stores October 27th. It is definitely my most anticipated album of this year, and that's saying a lot 'cause there have been some damn good releases thus far.

Kam Moye - Blue Skies (Prod. by Apollo Brown)

Kam Moye (aka Supastition) returns to close out this summer with a brand new breakup anthem, produced by Detroit's up and comer Apollo Brown. The track is "Blue Skies," but don't let the title throw you. The flowing lyrics are not about blue skies, but the lack thereof. Kam Moye rhymes about a relationship gone wrong and the frustration of trying to save face in public, a dilemma that many can relate to. About this theme, Kam states that, "The song isn't really about my own relationship, but more-so written from the standpoint of people close to me. It's about being with someone who seemed perfect in the beginning but somewhere down the line, just got too comfortable and became a big disappointment in your eyes." He raps, "When people see us in public they think it's all love, like, 'take a look at them two together, they got it all,' but little do they know we rarely get our problems solved. Most of the time I'm wishing that I was not involved." These straight forward, no BS lyrics combine with a looped, slightly eerie female vocal melody to preach the tracks message. "There are no blue skies." Be on the look out the debut Kam Moye album, Splitting Image via MYX Music Label. The album will be in stores October 27, 2009.

Kam Moye - Step By Step (Prod. by D.R.)

For Kam Moye, the decision to stray away from his original moniker, Supastition, and use his birth name is a reflection on the maturing subject matter and content he plans to explore on his new album. Now, his first album under the new name, Splitting Image, is due October 27 on MYX Music Label. Before the album drops, however, Kam has a special treat for those anticipating the release. Even though he believes "Step By Step" is dope, Kam says, "This is a little something to hold over the listeners. It was originally recorded for the album, but didn't quite make the cut because of me wanting more conceptual songs on the project." D.R., who serves as one of the main producers on the album, also collaborated with Kam for this track, laying the dirty, soul-inspired beat fans have grown accustomed to hearing Kam Moye spit on. While "Step By Step" might not fit the new album, it certainly stands on its own. Kam documents his plan to succeed by taking his time and doing 'this hip-hop thing' the right way,

"Rappers nowadays they fightin' for space on your hard drive / Me, I'd rather have a place in the archive." Be sure to get a taste of Kam Moye's new sound, and look out for Splitting Image October 27th.

SoulStice x Supastition - "Beyond Borders"

After leaking the first track ("Unfold" feat. Oddisee) last week from his forthcoming LP, Beyond Borders, today Soulstice has unveiled the title track and had this to say about its creation:

"It wasn't until we were a few songs into recording “Beyond Borders” that I came up with the name and concept for the album. After that moment, I knew I wanted to get artists from as many different countries as possible while still keeping the album cohesive. Supastition is from the crop of North Carolina artists that have recently gained prominence on the indie scene. Like myself, Supa's toured all over Europe, so I knew he'd have a great perspective to add to my title track and his lyrics are always dope. Angelina hails from Moscow and currently resides in London. Her family, all musicians, left the Soviet Union seeking musical freedom. After previewing some of her music, I discovered that she both sings and does a cool rap, spoken word kinda thing. I insisted that she do both on “Beyond Borders.” Russia also has a special significance for me and for this project since my first trip abroad was a six-week stay in St. Petersburg, Russia. This embodies many of the themes that inspired the album."

Supastition Signs New Record Deal

After tenures with both the now-defunct Freshchest Records and Soulspazm, Greenville, North Carolina's Supastition is the most recent artist signed to the MYX Music Label.

In conjuction with the deal making Supastition label-mates with Keelay & Zaire, it was announced that the emcee will now be managed by Big Dho, famed for his management with Little Brother, 9th Wonder and others.

The first MYX project will be called Splitting Image. The release is due in the fall of this year.

Previously, Supastition's albums include 2002's 7 Years of Bad Luck, 2004's The Deadline, and 2007's Chain Letters, as well as a few other unofficial releases/mixtapes.. He has also appeared on albums from KRS-One, Little Brother and CunninLynguists.

Artist Spotlight: Kam Moye aka Supastition

Kam Moye aka Supastition was born in 1976 in the city of Greenville, North Carolina. At the age of 18 he began to pursue a career in music, and around '95 was signed to Lo Key Records, then spent two years waiting for his contract to expire. Supa soon after released "Broke Man's Anthem" on Rasco's Pockets Linted label. In 2002, he released his debut album, 7 Years of Bad Luck on Freshchest Records.

In 2003, he appeared on the Cunninlynguists release of SouthernUnderground. Supa gained some serious attention in 2004 when he entered a contest on Okayplayer. His song "The Williams" produced by Nicolay was the winner and was later placed on the True Notes, Vol. 1 compilation.

Summer 2004, KRS-ONE's album Keep Right featured Supastition on "Still Spittin", and later that year Supa released The Deadline EP. His single "Boombox" for the EP was rated #2 on National College Radio charts at one point and was also featured on MTV2's One Life: The Love, The Game.

He appeared on projects by Little Brother [The Chittlin Circuit 1.5], Pumpkinhead [Orange Moon Over Brooklyn], and Cesar Comanche [The Squirrel & The Aces] in 2005, and made a big push towards the end of the year with his second full length album, Chain Letters. Chain Letters featured nearly flawless production with the likes of Jake One, Illmind, M-Phazes, & Nicolay, and received high praise from XXL and various other publications.

In 2007 Supastition & DJ Forge released the mixtape Guest of Honor, which also featured heavy production from Jake One, Marco Polo, M-Phazes, Illmind, Khrysis, among others.

His latest release under his shortened government name, Kam Moye, The Self-Centered EP, was released in 2008 for free digital download.
