Marco Polo & Ruste Juxx - Rearview

As promised by Marco Polo yesterday via Twitter, here is the first official leak off The eXXecution, the collaboration album between Marco and fellow Brooklyn resident Ruste Juxx. "Rearview" is also the B-side to the duo's 12" single which will be available in late March, along with the full-length album currently scheduled for release on March 23rd. This track is ridiculous, do not sleep!

Kam Moye - Forever Fresh (Prod. by Marco Polo) (Music Video)

North Carolina's own, Kam Moye aka Supastition, teams up with Bay Area director, Charles Barcelona for the Marco Polo-produced banger, "Forever Fresh." The video is done documentary-style and showcases Kam in various behind-the-scenes clips, past videos, and show footage from performances in the U.S. and abroad. The rest of the video was shot on location in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The song itself is reminiscent of the former Supastition sound with Kam spitting rapid fire, while still dropping jewels like "I'm what happens when a child prodigy grows up." Marco Polo's head nodding production shines brilliantly throughout the track triumphant horn stabs and classic boom bap drums leave the perfect backdrop for Kam's ferocity. "Forever Fresh" is the b-side to Kam Moye's official second single and latest album title track, "Splitting Image."

Diamond District - Who I Be (Marco Polo Remix)

Diamond District's debut In The Ruff made huge waves last year. Considering the impact that the album made, remixes of some of the cuts were inevitable. A reworking of "I Mean Business" by yU (1/3 of Diamond District) surfaced in late December, and now, Canadian producer Marco Polo, who contributed tracks to Masta Ace's A Long Hot Summer, Sadat X's Black October and various Boot Camp Clik projects, including his own Double Barrel project with Torae, is the latest to add new flavor to one of the tracks; reworking one of the album's top songs, "Who I Be."

In addition to getting the track out early for fans, Marco Polo's "Who I Be" Remix will be appearing on Mello Music Group's Diamond District Remixes album, as well as Duck Down Records' The Stupendous Adventures Of Marco Polo. Even before hearing the track, the pairing of Marco Polo's patented boom bap with Diamond District's own break beat heavy sound is a logical match. Marco Polo's new flavor is apparent right out of the box, as he drops the low end and adds a serving of catchy keys that give the song a fresh and more bouncy feel. On enlisting Marco Polo for the remix, Mello Music Group founder and Director of Operations, Michael Tolle, says, "Given the success of In The Ruff, we wanted to keep the remixes in a few select hands. Oddisee reached out to Marco on the strength of his Double Barrel release with Torae. and Marco came thru with a big radio friendly remix that made fresh use of the original ODB sample." Keeping the remixes in ready supply, in the coming weeks fans can also expect a remix of "Streets Won't Let Me Chill" by Detroit's own Apollo Brown.

Marco Polo & Ruste Juxx - Pre-eXXecution (Video + Audio)

Marco Polo & Ruste Juxx have combined forces to bring fans a serious dose of hardcore hip hop. The eXXecution is entirely produced by Marco Polo with Ruste Juxx providing gut-wrenching vocals over heavy hitting drums. Marco Polo explains that a "simple studio session to play beats turned into Ruste Juxx recording 9 songs. The joints came out so crazy that we said let's turn this into a full-length album. Working with Duck Down all these years it was only a matter of time before Juxx and I got to a specific project. The best part is the work happened organically. Nothing was forced. Ruste came through, heard beats, wrote, recorded...done deal. March 23rd is The eXXecution!"

The album, which is being finished in the studio before the new year, features Buckshot, Sean Price, Freddie Foxxx, Rock of Heltah Skeltah & DJ Revolution with additional guests to be confirmed.

Double Barrel Tuesday: Marco Polo Making Beats

In this week's episode of "Double Barrel" Tuesdays, Marco Polo invites you into his world of production. Sit down with Marco Polo as he constructs a beat from start to finish. For all aspiring producers, listen to the detail that goes into his craft, as he searches beyond just looping samples from a single vinyl, and truly goes into the crates using the likes of six different songs, that have nothing to do with each other key wise, and makes them work harmoniously to create a final beat.

Pumpkinhead - Orange Moon Over Brooklyn

Orange Moon Over Brooklyn features guest appearances from Immortal Technique, Jean Grae, D.V. Alias Khryst, Supastition, Wordsworth, and others. The album is entirely produced by Marco Polo and features cuts by turntablist DP One.

Brooklyn’s proudest battle MC delivers his best work yet with this release. Pumpkinhead got his big break by doing a promo for the “Stretch and Bobbito Show” (Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito the Barber). His first 12-inch records in 1998, (”Dynamic” and “Wack MC’s”) had great success on the radio charts. Since then, Pumpkinhead has worked with almost every underground MC in New York, recorded a Seagram’s Gin radio commercial, and toured in Australia, Japan, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Orange Moon Over Brooklyn features the banging tracks “Rock On”, “Trifactor” and “Swordfish”. Without a doubt, Pumpkinhead is back representing BK to the fullest!
