On the second release for the Sequence Records imprint under the Virgin/Ultra canopy, Babu, acclaimed DJ for crews the Beat Junkies and Dilated Peoples, steps out solo with his own mix CD. Featuring new tracks and mixes of De la Soul, Pete Rock, the Visionaries, Quasimoto, Jurassic 5, and Big Daddy Kane just for starters, this collection exceeds the expectations of most mixes and comes through with a listenable compilation packaged with a loose but lovable duck theme. Though lacking the scratching that is part of the Babu repertoire, Duck Season Vol. 1 is still an outstanding representation of one of turntable's greatest ears and wrists.
