Last month rapper Kida hooked up with producer Focus & DJ Skee to release The Endemic, but now has decided to re-release it without the annoying tags from DJ Skee.
DJ Skee & a.Fam Entertainment are proud to present the release of Kida‘s new project, The Endemic.
The project, which took roughly 14 months to create, was a labor of love between Kida and executive producer TheRealFocus... "At one point I thought the album was complete, but Focus thought it was "good" when it could be great," says Kida.
With original production from Focus, 9th Wonder, DJ Khalil, !llmind, Jake One, Mell & D, Seige, and Wyldfyer, the project shines in its mission to show hip hop listeners that there is another side of West Coast music.
In anticipation of her upcoming album, The Brown Study, with Detroit producer Apollo Brown, Atlanta-based MC Boog Brown entices fans with a taste of things to come on her latest mixtape The Grind Season Vol. 1. A collection of music that features production from Illastrate, Lex Boogie and 14KT, inlcuding appearances from staHHr, Fluxwonda (of Binkis Recs), and more. "Grind Season is a state of being," says Boog on the meaning behind the mixtape's title. "Every day you must grind for your vision. Mine is making honest music." Tracks on the mixtape, including "Grind Season," "Anymode," and "The Essence" serve as perfect examples of Boog's smooth flow and propensity for delivering strong rhymes over laid-back beats. It's all the reassurance you need that, as Boog herself says, "The Boys Club is non-existent to me."

MF Grimm, also known by the moniker Superstar Jet Jaguar, has rocked the mic for over two decades. Clearly, Grimm, has been able to transcend his wheelchair. Despite his physical disposition, Grimm has built an amazing career, performing with and battling against hip-hop’s best and brightest. Grimm’s musical prowess has merited him the title of Grandmaster.
The hip-hop community has definitely missed Grimm’s candid lyrics. His most recent album release, American Hunger (2006), experienced considerable success. Grimm is revving up for the release of his next two Day By Day Ent. albums, You Only Live Twice on November 23, 2009 and Supreme Excellence on March 15, 2010.
Underrated 2nd album from Jeru The Damaja. Lots of intelligent lyrics and dope beats from DJ Premier. This album was made before his departure from the Gangstarr Foundation, which he dissed later on.

Japan has a long tradition of talented DJs and beatmakers - DJ Krush, DJ Honda, Muro and more recently Kentaro. Another Japanese producer and DJ who's made a name for himself worldwide in the last few years is Mitsu the Beats, the alias of a diminutive yet very talented Sendai City native who stormed everyone's favorite charts a few years back thanks to his first solo LP, A New Awakening, and his group's, GAGLE, first album. Signed to the Jazzy Sport label in Japan, Mitsu the Beats soon found himself being name checked by the likes of Pete Rock, Gilles Peterson and DJ Spinna after relasing his LP. 2009 is the year of his second album "A Word To The Wise", a wonderful mix of hiphop/jazzy/funk/soul sounds.

Worcester, Massachusetts MC Quite Nyce has dropped his highly anticipated mixtape, Hello, My Name is Quite Nyce, a free download presented by Unherd Digital and some of the interwebz’ finest blogsites in 2dopeboyz.com, KevinNottingham.com, WYDUblog.com, RocktheDub.com, and PotHolesInMyBlog.com.
This 18-track mixtape is a collection of Quite Nyce’s most notable NEW material that was carefully selected and blended by Unherd Digital and Quite Nyce himself. The tracks, which span from early 2008 into the spring of this very year, were taken from Quite’s solo LPs, RADIx group albums, collaboration with Raydar Ellis, and unreleased Japanese releases that have never seen the light of day in the United States.
All in all, this is a perfect introduction to Quite Nyce’s new direction with his music and also embodies the love, respect, and passion he has put into his craft since he first splattered spit onto his microphone.
This exciting mixtape also serves as a prequel to his upcoming solo digital LP, Through My Eyes, which is set to release on August 25th.
Check out the newest material from Lab Technician14KT, on his most recent project, the Nowalataz LP. If you like what you hear, you can catch 14KT (along with Buff1) opening for Mayer Hawthorne this fall across the country.
“Here it is… a project I unofficially had done since 2006. It started when James Yancey a.k.a. J Dilla passed that February. To cope with the death of my favorite producer, who I liked to call my unofficial “musical mentor,” I started making ‘donuts’ …uncontrollably. I never planned to release any of the material out of respect for Dilla & his craft. I’ve shared some of the music with others, in which they would repeatedly ask me to hear it, so I decided to put a little something together and make it official. JUSTFOR YA’LL.
This is a collection of beats created about 3 years ago. Some ‘donuts’ style, some just around that era of 14KT beats. “Now & Laters” were always a favorite candy of mine. I used to go to Mindell’s Pharmacy in Ypsilanti back in the day and buy ALL of them. Sadly, I even stole change from my grandma’s (RIP) purse for them. They are addictive, yet fun to eat… something I found mutual when making music at the time. Ironically, I fell back in love with “Nowalataz” around this era (ask my homey Sarah “Merk Merk,” haha). Enjoy.“
The New Chill is a brand new EP from Portland duo Dave Notti & Hi-Res. Notti explains it, "branches off from all of us, not just Hi-Res and myself, but [our whole crew]... just wanting to be able to chill and be cool without any of the drama. We decided on The New Chill not because of a "new crew"... but rather a "new atmosphere" - change, if you will. Our new music styles are a testament to this change as we sound nothing of our former selves." Dave also went on to explain that the concept behind the EP wasn’t too complex - "just smooth beats from Tim [Res] meets NY grittyness! All the while showing versatility with the few concepts shown in the project. We wanted to give listeners something short but sweet."
