BURNTmd - Microphone Doctor b/w Stand The Rain

BURNTmd, originally from Brooklyn, New York now lives in Burlington, Vermont where he has received a huge amount of media recognition for his contribution to Vermont hip hop culture. Dubbed MD, or Microphone Doctor, BURNTmd can be very creative, inspiring, and intense at the same time. With the production and talent of many different artists contributing to the Growth Till Death movement, GTD has been able to establish itself as a premier entertainment company in New England. Below are two joints released earlier this year that were featured on BURNTmd's first worldwide digital 12" single for GTD Entertainment/Coalmine Records.

DefamTV Interview With Akrobatik

Boston's Akrobatik chops it up with Defam about his views on today's hip hop and the consistency on staying true to himself.
Defamnation: This Artist Profile we had a chance to get up with Boston's very own Akrobatik. He explains where he is at currently within the game and what his plans are for the future. Akrobatik isn't your everyday hip hop artist, he's been in the game for many years and is a staple in today's local hip hop scene. If he isn't coming up with fresh rhymes daily for Jamn' 94.5's Sports Wrap-up and NESN or perfecting his craft and laying down bars for upcoming solo and collabo projects; then he is out in the field crushing bodies with his football team. Akro is a beast in the studio and a monster in the field.

Akro is a very level headed and intelligent person and knows how to deal with the pressures of todays critics and media. With his positive mentality he continues to overcome any obstacles that the culture may throw at him and overcome to still sit at the top.

Akrobatik is a perfect example to the Defam crew, continuing to make moves but not letting things get to your head. If it happens, and you made it happen, that is more rewarding then anything else.

This Winter, he heads off to Europe to do a string of dates with Edo.G and Masta Ace. Check myspace.com/therealakrobatik for more info.

And expect a collabo to drop early 2010.

Akrobatik - Absolute Value

MySpace

The new album from Boston hip-hop mainstay Akrobatik and follow-up to 2003's Balance, Absolute Value takes the listener on a journey through his diverse range, and he does not go at it alone. An impressive list of guest artists and producers that accompany Ak on Absolute Value include hip-hop legends, some of today's most powerful contemporary names, and members of the underground elite. It all comes off as if Akrobatik is conducting an orchestra of some of the most talented and respected artists in the game.

After years of regional rap stardom and underground acclaim, Ak penetrated Hip-Hop's greater critical consciousness as one-third of The Perceptionists with Mr. Lif and DJ Fakts One. Their 2005 Def Jux release, “Black Dialogue,” pitched some of music's most resounding criticisms of bandwagon pop culture and the Bush regime, and became the only indie rap project toregister on Rolling Stone's Top 50 Records of the Year list. With AV, Akro deals with issues both personal and socio-political, but never strays too far from his fist-pumping, party-inducing formula for bangers. The effects of life on the road, enlightening misguided youth, perseverance through the toughest of times, and the continuing struggle of Black America are among the issues Akro tackles on AV. And with production from the likes of J Dilla, Illmind, Beatminerz, 9th Wonder, Hezekiah, J-Zone, and more, Akro has the perfect backdrops to get his points across while keeping the funk totally intact. The list of artists lending their vocal talents to Absolute Value is mind-boggling. Talib Kweli, Chuck D. of Public Enemy, Mr. Lif, Bumpy Knuckles, and Little Brother headline a guest list that would leave any true hip-hop fan brimming with excitement.
