Vakill - Worst Fears Confirmed

MySpace

His first release gained him critical praise from trade publications and fans alike. Discussions on his MC skill began to light up on internet message boards all over the world. A one month European tour was warranted to support his project and meet his new found popularity overseas. Upon his return, Vakill was determined to work on next release with the same strict guidelines as his first.

On his sophomore release, “Worst Fears Confirmed”, Vakill brings to light what his freshman release foreshadowed. The sickest MC returns to solidify his legacy that reaches back to the early days of Chicago Hip Hop. As far as lyrics were concerned, the crown wasn’t about to move.

Vakill paints vivid pictures on a sonic canvas provided by fellow crew members the Molemen. As his lyrics game stepped up, so did the Molemen’s production approach. Illustrious samples alongside keyboard and acoustic accompaniments make this the best sounding project to date. The words described the settings while the music sets the mood. The cinematic result is a ride through the cold streets of Chicago.

Worst Fears Confirmed” is an opus written from the complex mind of Vakill, who’s uncompromising skill raises the bar in a time when lyricism is at a decline. Produced and overseen by Molemen Inc, the album adds to the indigenous sound of Chicago for the world to take note. The warning came and went, and now this is the storm coming to wash away the scum.

Decay - The Unlikely Hero

MySpace

Decay is an emcee that comes along every once in a while and captivates the listener with raw talent and a hunger to tell his story. In 2005 he released locally his debut "In Retrospect", an album full of political and personal subject matter ranging from being kicked out of his house to the portrayal of minorities in the media. In 2007, he collaborated with Akron, Ohio producer Fluent (Uncut Raw, Green Llama) to form City Slick. They released an independent hip hop firecracker called "The Antique Black", that garnered attention from various online stores, news sites and blogs.

Recently, Decay dropped "The Unlikely Villain" mixtape for free download online. The mixtape features a few members of the Green Llama crew (Decay, Selfish, Tone Liv, Butta Verses, Fluent, Vincent Price, Ill Don, Mr. Dibiase and Dj Monky) and drops from The Molemen. This move helped D grow his fan base as well as set up promotions for his new album, "The Unlikely Hero" on Molemen Records.

"The Unlikely Hero" features production by Panik, Memo and PNS, who bring that sound of raw hip hop the Molemen are known for. Selfish (Uncut Raw) also drops a gem on the album for the Green Llama posse cut "Easy" featuring Selfish, Tone Liv and Butta Verses (a long time collaborator with De La Soul). Fellow Molemen Records label mate Astonish also makes a guest appearance on the concert favorite track "Get Loose". Aside from those two collaborations, Decay is left to fend on his own, the rest of the album, to show and prove that skills have come to save the day.

01. Fanfare (Prod. by Memo)
02. Push (Prod. by Memo)
03. The Unlikely Hero (Prod. by Panik)
04. That's War feat. Selfish (Prod. by Panik)

06. Wise (Prod. by Panik)
07. Pills (Prod. by Panik)

09. The Chase (Prod. by Panik)
10. Get Loose feat. Astonish (Prod. by Panik)
11. Sunsplash (Prod. by Memo)
12. Easy (The Llama Way) feat. Selfish, Tone Liv & Butta Verses (Prod. by Selfish)
13. Oh Lordy (Prod. by Panik)
14. Cloud (Prod. by Panik)

FILI-
Why oh why do people continue to sleep on the Molemen?!! They're responsible for some of the best hip hop to come out of Chicago or anywhere for that matter for the longest while now. This superb release follows on from Astonish's From Now Until Forever and Verbal Kent's Fist Shaking. Production is all handled by the Molemen crew of Panik, Memo & PNS and features fellow Molemen MC, Astonish as well as his Green Llama brethrens, Selfish & Tone Liv and also featuring a guest spot from up-coming MC, Butta Verses. This should definitely by in everyone's collection. The future looks bright for Decay and the Molemen and as long as they keep putting out dope releases like this then I'll continue to support them like I have been doing since the late 90's!

Rhyme Scheme - For My People

Debut album from Molemen Inc's first round draft pick. This young MC spits about life experiences with a mature approach, utilizing high caliber lyricism. The sonic backdrop is provided by rising Chicago producers Mike Slugs & 21 Grams (Sound Merchants), Tyme, Molemen, and Florida's Vincent Price.

If you need some convincing, check out "I'ma Make It" or "Way of the World". In a bleak world, the positive vibe on these tracks can become a soundtrack to personal upliftment. The full effect can only be felt if you cruise to the music on Lake Shore Drive. It's a Chicago thing, but the whole world can ride with this.
