Continuing on with the fifth of twenty-eight days dedicated to James "J Dilla" Yancey is another pair of creations that are sure to keep your head nodding. Starting off is a track most of you are probably familiar with from the Jaylib collaboration album Champion Sound. The Talib Kweli assisted cut "Raw Shit" represents exactly what the title of the song says and is yet another example of Dilla's versatile production styles. Secondly, we have a song I don't know a lot about other than it's extreme dopeness. The song is called "I Must Love You" and for whatever reason was the only Dilla production featured on Guilty Simpson's album Ode To The Ghetto. Anyways, the beat is absolutely nuts and if you haven't heard it I would highly recommend that you take a few seconds to check it out.

Off of the upcoming Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek) project mixed by Statik Selektah, here is the song "Come Around" featuring lyrical heavyweights Termanology & Royce Da 5'9". The mixtape is set to drop on New Years Eve (my birthday), followed by the duo's comeback release of Revolutions Per Minute. A Kweli-less version of this joint will also be featured on Statik Selektah's full-length album 100 Proof, out early next year.
Statik Selektah's Pre-Game EP dropped yesterday and here is the final leak. "I'm Wit It" features Talib Kweli & Cory Mo. Statik Selektah's full-length LP, 100 Proof (The Hangover), is scheduled for release on February 2nd, 2010.
My personal favorite track off KRS-One & Buckshot's Survival Skills, the Marco Polo produced "Oh Really," featuring Talib Kweli, gets the remix treatment and the trio is joined by one-half of Seattle duo, and newest affiliates of Duck Down Records, Blue Scholars.
Here is the second track to be released from the upcoming collaboration between Strong Arm Steady & Madlib, Stoney Jackson. "Get Started" features a verse from Talib Kweli and an incredible instrumental courtesy of Madlib. Guest appearances on Stoney Jackson include Talib Kweli, Guilty Simpson, Phonte, Planet Asia and a host of underground Los Angeles’s emerging rap talent. Track list & release date on the way, as well as a new music video coming sometime next week.
Very dope footage of DJ Khalil and Talib Kweli working on the Blokhedz: Act II project. I can only imagine what a whole album from these two could potentially sound like...
Train of Thought is the first and only album so far by Reflection Eternal, a hip hop duo composed of rapper Talib Kweli & DJ Hi-Tek. It was released on October 17, 2000 by Rawkus Records. Due to a series of underground hits in the late 1990s, both Kweli and Hi-Tek were hyped in the hip hop music media, and Train of Thought was a critical success, though sales were slim. Kweli reflects on modern African-American culture, including criticisms of commercialism and violence like "these cats drink champagne/To toast death and pain/Like slaves on the ship talkin' 'bout who got the flyest chains". This album is certified Gold by the RIAA.
A PopMatters review describes Kweli as "a hyper-articulate MC with a revolutionary's mind and a sensitive poet's heart, but he's also a world-class battle MC, able to rip other MCs' rhymes apart in a quick second". Rolling Stone gave the album 3.5 stars and called it "the rare socially aware hip-hop record that can get fists pumping in a rowdy nightclub". With former partner Mos Def's critical smash Black on Both Sides to be compared to, Reflection Eternal earned some criticism for a perceived shallowness in the social and political content of some of the lyrics, for example the PitchFork review stated: "Kweli uses the rhythm as a foundation, building rambling, baroque rhyme structures on top of them, exhibiting his cock-eyed 'skills'. This kind of braggadocio doesn't weaken the effort in the same way his moralizing self-canonization does, if only because he can often back those claims up".

Kweli talks about meeting Jean Grae for the first time and the two MCs cross paths with comedian/writer David Cross while reminiscing in the park. Jean then hits the Blacksmith offices and terrorizes the staff in her very own special way.
Talib Kweli drops by the Chop Shop in NYC where DJ Whoo Kid is getting a haircut and blesses us with "Back Again". The return of the legendary group Reflection Eternal along with his partner Hi Tek. Cameos from Original Graff artist Stay High 189, U-God, Ivan, and DanTheMan.
Reflection Eternal [Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek] have released a new single entitled, Internet Connection. The song is a shoutout to let all the folks online know that the duo has linked up again and are set to do work on their long awaited second album, it is also an ode to technology, so Hi-Tek came through with a super funky beat.
Bootsie Collins was in the studio at the time of this recording and wanted to jump aboard also, so here you have it! Enjoy.
