Brother Ali is heading out on the road to support his upcoming record "Us" out 09.22.09. He'll be joined by Evidence, Toki Wright & BK-One. Complete tour details can be found on the "Fresh Air Tour Page."
San Diego based sextet, Deep Rooted, spices up their latest soulful hip-hop track with a featured verse from emcee Sha Dula, and production from Rhettmatic. A catchy piano line paired with a serene vocal melody establishes the track's sentimental tone, as it continues behind Rhettmatic's laid-back yet powerful beat. Separating the poetic, flowing verses coming to you from the group's emcees and their guest, Sha Dula, Deep Rooted's wildcard, songstress Just Brea sings the soulful melodic hook, "We've come to the end of the road/ It's been a long time coming." The last verse features DJ Artistic with a scratch solo, bringing the track to a close. This track's medley of talent is not something to be overlooked. Check out the latest release, the self-titled D.E.E.P. R.O.O.T.E.D. out now on Clear Label Records.

Peter Bjorn and John may be the indie rockers with the most street cred in the hip-hop 'hood. Last spring, the Swedes released Living Thing, their latest album that traded their characteristic pop guitars for bangin' beats -- and hip-hop heads took notice. Mixtape master Mick Boogie curated a remix of the album, Re-Living Thing (out August 27), working with PBJ to recruit MCs Talib Kweli, GZA, Wale and others to contribute. Among them: DJ Jazzy Jeff, who remixes "Stay This Way" under rhymes from Rapper Big Pooh, Phil Nash, and Chaundon.

“So I wrote lyrics to K-Salaam and Beatnick’s beat that exposes the similarity between the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and the Native American genocide, and the connection between the struggle for justice in Palestine and the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S. Since writing the song, I’ve learned about even more connections–that the Israeli military has trained U.S. police forces such as the Atlanta Police Department and the Border Patrol. By boycotting Israel, we are also boycotting repressive police tactics in our cities and on our borders.”

Them EMS boys don't stop, do they? Here's a cut from M-Dot, featuring Special Teamz' Jaysaun, which has been catchin' a lot of burn ever since dropping on HipHopDX, and for good reason. This is the first single from M.usically D.riven O.ver T.ime, which is said to be dropping Winter 2009. So you should be comfy in knowing you've got some heat for the cold winter months!

While Psalm One's been working on her follow up to the Rhymesayers debut The Death of Frequent Flyer she took some time out to drop this track for you. Check out her take on Drake's song "Uptown".
A couple days ago Brother Ali released the first official single off his upcoming album and I'm just now getting around to it, so here it is for those who may have missed it. The song, "Fresh Air" is produced by Ant, as is the rest of the album "Us", which hits the streets on September 22nd but can be pre-ordered here (Fifth Element Online) right now.To celebrate Inside A Change winning the Best Film Award at the 2009 HBO NYILFF, Skillz, Usef Dinero and DJ Jazzy Jeff put this joint together for the soundtrack. The original concept for the video was to create literal interpretations of Skillz’ lyrics that have to do with the characters in the film. However, that sort of morphed into straight up performance shots where we followed Skillz around various locations during his tour and intercutting it with abstract b roll shots. It was a blast shooting this video and big huge shoutout to Skillz for supporting this film since day one. Enjoy!
Connecticut's world famous rhyme wrecker returns with a warm hug and a deadly snakebite on his sophomore full length album, "Wanna Snuggle?" MySpacePreview:“Here it is… a project I unofficially had done since 2006. It started when James Yancey a.k.a. J Dilla passed that February. To cope with the death of my favorite producer, who I liked to call my unofficial “musical mentor,” I started making ‘donuts’ …uncontrollably. I never planned to release any of the material out of respect for Dilla & his craft. I’ve shared some of the music with others, in which they would repeatedly ask me to hear it, so I decided to put a little something together and make it official. JUST FOR YA’LL.
This is a collection of beats created about 3 years ago. Some ‘donuts’ style, some just around that era of 14KT beats. “Now & Laters” were always a favorite candy of mine. I used to go to Mindell’s Pharmacy in Ypsilanti back in the day and buy ALL of them. Sadly, I even stole change from my grandma’s (RIP) purse for them. They are addictive, yet fun to eat… something I found mutual when making music at the time. Ironically, I fell back in love with “Nowalataz” around this era (ask my homey Sarah “Merk Merk,” haha). Enjoy.“
Black Milk shows his versatility once again on the boards and the m.i.c. with this brand new joint, "In The A.M." Black stays dropping nothing but quality music. Is it just me or does a Black Milk x Elzhi x Royce da 5'9" collaboration album sound just about a perfect?
Swollen Members debut their new song "Red Dragon". The track is taken from their heavily anticipated new studio album Armed To The Teeth, which lands in stores October 13th through Suburban Noize Records and Battle Axe Records.
